- Training Session: Prioritize training your dog to carry a small decorative pillow or a cute box with the rings safely attached, making sure they walk confidently down the aisle to deliver them.
- Pawsome Photoshoot: Before the ceremony, schedule a professional photoshoot highlighting your pup's role as the ring bearer—a perfect opportunity to capture heartwarming moments to cherish forever.
- Pet-Friendly Rehearsal: Organize a special rehearsal where your dog can become familiar with the wedding venue, practice their walk down the aisle, and get comfortable with the whole setup to ensure a smooth performance on the big day.

ReplyDeleteI wish I'd incorporated my two sweethearts into the wedding. My MIL nixed it. It was twenty years ago, but it still bugs me!!

DeleteI would think it depends on the dogs. I love my girls dearly but they hate being in pictures and large crowds overwhelm them. We didn't have dogs when we married but thinking about involving them in a formal ceremony would not be kind to them.
ReplyDeleteWedding are personal and people should do as they wish. I do think when including those who can't speak for themselves you do need to consider how much enjoyment they will get from the experience. Some dogs are social and will love the experience of being around you.
Another thing to consider is who will be your dog wrangler. Just like when you involve kids in a wedding you need someone to supervise you also need someone who can watch the dog. The dog may be the most well mannered dog in the world but as I've learned with my dogs, people don't always act intelligently around dogs, especially children if you have them at the wedding. You sometimes need someone to protect the dog from the people.
While we agree with everything you are saying, one of our first option is getting someone to take of the dog during the event (dog sitter or a family member) to make sure everyone is safe (including the dog). These suggestions or guide is for couples who are contemplating on including their furry friends in their wedding.
