Don't Be Afraid to Upcycle parts of your Wedding - Pegboard to the Rescue

HERE’S THE SECRET TO USING PEGBOARDs IN YOUR WEDDING

“True happiness comes from the joy of deeds well done,
the zest of creating things new."
- Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, French writer and poet

When you think of pegboards, chances are, storage, construction and tools come to mind. While these are common uses for pegboards, it’s not all they’re good for - pegboards can be used in a variety of creative ways. Some people have even used pegboards as part of their wedding coordination ideas!

Pegboards are boards of wood and resin with evenly dispersed holes drilled throughout. They are commonly used to store tools and materials or hold different items suspended. You can buy a pegboard at a local hardware store, or you can simply make your own. You can purchase the material for your base, and drill holes spaced to your liking. Depending on the type of material you use for your base, and the size, your pegboard can hold up to 100 or even 200 lbs. They are meant to be a stable way to hold up heavier objects.

Simple, creative, and fun!

So how can you incorporate pegboards into your wedding plans?

First, based on your wedding coordination ideas, pegboards are typically placed at wedding reception areas. However, you can place it where you want. But if you want to try something different, you can always consult your day wedding planner. Here’s what to keep in mind:

1. Add your wedding color(s) to your pegboard
To make your pegboard fit perfectly with your wedding ideas, you will want to use the same color as the color of the day. Nonetheless, you can use any mix of flowers you love for the decoration.

2. Use your pegboard as Backdrops
Are you looking for a creative photo or ceremony backdrop? Flower and greenery walls are popular as ever - and a pegboard makes it easy!
  • You can weave your flowers and greenery throughout the peg holes for a stunning design
  • Pegboard greenery and floral walls take little to no time to create
Your guests will love it and use it for photos all night long.

3. Use your pegboard for Favors & Escort Cards
Favors often get forgotten or left behind after the reception. To encourage your guests to pick up favors, or other small take-home gifts, consider using a pegboard.
  • Hang small favors with string or ribbon on the pegboard
  • Guests can stop by and take a favor throughout the reception
You can also use the pegboard to hang your escort cards for easy pickup as guests enter your reception area.

4. Use your pegboard as a Guest Book
Turn your pegboard into a keepsake by encouraging your guests to sign it as a guest book. It’s a fun and creative way to log all your guests from the night and remember who made the night special.
  • Add a small table next to your pegboard for pens for your guests to use
  • The larger the pegboard, the more room for longer messages and notes from guests
For an even more unique take, you can have guests leave notes for the newlywed couple to hang on the pegboard - advice for married life, well wishes, and more intimate notes for the couple to review after the night has ended.

“And in the end, the love you take is
equal to the love you make."
- The Beatles

5. Include Your “Thank Yous!” at the end of the evening:
This idea is unique… instead of waiting, you can think about adding your “Thank Yous” at the end of the night when guests are leaving. This will leave a smile and a lasting impression on your guests.

6. Use your pegboard as a Dessert wall
You read that right - you can even use your pegboard for your dessert! Hanging donuts (you may know it as the “donut wall”)  on the pegs makes a picture-perfect part of the night guests will not soon forget.
  • Donuts (it doesn't have to be; think about using one of your favorite comfort foods) make for an easy handheld dessert completely accessible
  • No need to stop the party - guests can visit the dessert pegboard at their convenience and select whatever you have displayed.
It’s a fun and easy way to hand out dessert without having to worry about cutting up and handing out wedding cake!
