A horizontal banner titled "JUST DROPPED: How To Turn Your CENTERPIECES From Zero To Hero" featuring four oval-framed images of decorative glass displays. The first frame shows a glass cloche on a light wood base filled with a dense arrangement of pink, yellow, and blue dried wildflowers. The second frame displays small gourds and pumpkins stacked inside a bell-shaped glass dome on a white scalloped pedestal. The final frame shows three tall glass cylinders holding thick white pillar candles, surrounded by a base of natural pinecones. -Weddings by KMich-Philadelphia PA

The cloche is timeless and a great way to display any assortment of flowers as a centerpiece. A great romantic focal point, easy to DIY, and perfect for any event or brides-to-be looking for something classic and unique. Before we tell you how to turn your centerpieces from zero to hero, here is a little history.

What Is A Cloche?

A cloche is a glass-domed cover used to protect plants from frost. The word cloche in French means bell, which describes its shape. It was used as mini-greenhouses and is still used today to protect fragile plants from the cold or help seedlings develop roots.

Now cloches are multipurpose. They have come to serve an indoor purpose throughout the years as a vessel for displaying beautiful seasonal vignettes or centerpieces ideas. The different variations of cloche can include terrariums, glass domes, or glass bottles where you can incorporate candles, dried flowers, greenery,  or romantic string lights.

Bride’s Tips:

  • Make sure you know your budget and keep to casual compositions of flowers and decor to keep it cost-effective.
  • Set your timeline and realistic expectations. Start a checklist for when you need to get everything ordered, picked up, and process time for your arrangements.
  • Recruit family and friends who love flowers to help! This will speed up the process and will be fun and exciting.

Also, use a mood board to keep a collage of your floral style and decor; add any other unexpected decor pieces you’d like to incorporate. This is an excellent way to visualize all your ideas. There is something about the natural elegance of a color-coordinated taper candle placed in a glass holder filled with flowers that we love. It creates an intimate setting for any table.

You could choose to arrange a handful of your favorite blooms like Spray Roses, Hydrangeas, or Baby’s Breath, which can be fresh, dried or dried fruits into clusters. Cover with a bell-shaped cloche or placed in glass bottles, you’ll have a unique garden-inspired centerpiece your guests will love.

Glass enclosed arrangements such as terrariums will bring an edge to your decor, whether you fill them with air plants, dried flowers, or live greenery. You can find glass domes and colored glass bottles at thrift/vintage shops. When choosing, keep your decor and style in mind. Try to aim for something that matches or complements your wedding theme
