Soiree Wedding: How + Where to Use the Color of the Year - Classic Blue
In 1963, Pantone founder Lawrence Herbert designed a color-matching system for consistency of colors across the board. It is used for consistency in printing inks and paint colors, ensuring that the color is the exact match from manufacturer to manufacturer. They are, in essence, the global authority on color. Every year in December they pick a new color, this year... Pantone has been an influence in the commercial market for the last 20 years. Their Color of the Year has been used by the fashion industry, home decor, product development, printing, packaging, and more. Their color experts travel all over the world looking for colors that represent life, art, and technology.

So, as we come to the end of the year, Pantone gave us our annual gift - The color of the year, which was announced on Thursday (12/5/19) Classic Blue. This color is, “Classic Blue. It encourages us to look beyond the obvious and expand our thinking… Instilling calm, confidence, and connection, this enduring blue hue highlights our desire for a dependable and stable foundation on which to build as we cross the threshold into a new era…” - Pantone -
Last year’s color was Ultra Violet (2018) and this year’s color is Living Coral…it’s vibrant, energizing, and pops with color. These classic accents can be used to pimp out your wedding with gorgeous splashes of color to set the mood.
Top Wedding Ideas Using Classic Blue
Think about adding or sprinkling this beautiful color throughout your wedding. This could be your "#somethingblue”(wink) at your wedding; you decide where you want to let the magic happen. You might tie a baby blue ribbon around your bouquet, incorporate it into a side braid and wear it in your hair, use it as part of your dinner decor (place settings, centerpiece, upholstered chairs, invitations, cake decorations, accessories, shoes, makeup, linens, signage, LED lighting, desserts, to name a few) or however, you choose to add it in. Be creative, and add a little here and there where you want your WOW factor. Remember, there is no rule to wedding planning it’s all about you and your day. Be creative!

How about lovely blue-inspired cake decorations? The trim could be blue, or you could add just some accent around the edges. The subtle use of the color would be to just add a handful of blueberries into the frosting or made into a tart and placed on the cake somewhere.

Blue pumps with a bow-tie are perfect for this look. Or, if you prefer flats, blue satin ballerina slippers would do just fine.

Bold blue for a daring splash of color. Get your manicure the day before the wedding so you don’t chip the polish. You can also do a last-minute touch up to make sure it looks perfect before your walk down the aisle.
