Top 4 Styles That Are Dominating the Runway
And nothing could be truer when it comes to hosting a wedding soiree. Couples often ask their wedding planner to “thread the needle” between tradition and current trends. This often manifests itself in the many responsibilities of the day of coordinator as well as in the bride’s dress.Today’s bride is more trend aware than ever before, but this often goes beyond just fashion such as in the movement towards eco-friendly dresses like those offered by Pronovias.

It can all be a bit overwhelming. That’s why we’re here to help with a range of resources at every stage of wedding planning.
We’ve found 12 designers that are not only relevant right now from a trends standpoint, but who are also turning out some of the best work in the industry. We love these fashion houses and we think you will, too. But, before we get to that, let’s discuss how wedding dresses balance the needs of tradition with modern fashion sensibilities.
Wedding Dresses: Simultaneously Fashion’s Most Traditional and Cutting-Edge Garment
What makes a modern wedding dress?
Today’s wedding dress actually comes from a Victorian tradition (1837-1901) of wearing white, typically with lace and a veil. Yet, as far as traditions go, it’s relatively new itself. Wikipedia
While many of us like to think of the white dress as the eternal choice, it’s actually more modern than many of the wedding dress styles we find around the world.
The good news is that you don’t need to let tradition be your guide, nor do you need to stick with a white dress and veil. In fact, some of the boldest designers, who happen to be some of our very favorites, are eschewing that entirely.
From this perspective, it would be better to look at how wedding dresses fuse cultural norms as well as traditions. Beyond that, compared with the past, the modern bride’s garment is more individualized and personal than ever before.
In other words, the so-called “rule book” about wedding dresses is largely giving way to a new tradition of personal expression, dynamic fashion, and even conscientious living.
Of course, keeping up with all of these new developments is a job in itself. That’s why you should subscribe to us today to make sure you get all of the latest information about wedding dress fashion and event planning.

The On-Trends Dominating Bridal Fashion
The more things change, the more they stay the same but, when it comes to bridal fashion, one thing is certain: Nothing stands still.
Some of the trends we’re noticing this year are definitely part of a longer-term shift in consumer thinking (such as eco-crepe) while others, such as the second dress as wedding dress or slip style, are more recent developments. Before diving into our list of top designers, let’s discuss a few of the trends we think are relevant in 2021 and 2022.
Less Formal, More Individual
One huge trend we’ve noticed is a shift towards less formal and more individualized dresses. The emphasis here is on comfort and understated elegance. The Drew style dress from The Law Bridal is one incarnation of this trend. Two more complex examples of this are Cucculelli Shaheen’s Arco Halter and Arco Full Dress.
Bridal Jumpsuits and Pantsuits
If a dress isn’t your style, then you have options in 2021. The Poesia Borders Jumpsuit from Cucculelli Shaheen combines stunning rich ivory fabrics with modern gold detailing that is delicately feminine with a touch of gold glamour. There is a variant white heavy silk embroidered cape that goes with it.
Puffy Sleeves
Considered a staple of the 1980s and 1990s wedding scene, puffy sleeves are coming back in a big way. We can certainly understand why after one look at Alon Livne’s Chiara Wedding Gown. For a touch of an extra touch of royal grandeur, there is also a variant with an off-shoulder cape, too.
Square Necklines
Continuing our theme of royalty, square necklines are also making a return to the runways and wedding aisles. The Adhara from Nicole Milano is an ivory tulle masterpiece with a swooping square neckline, decorated sleeves, and a skirt and bodice covered with lace. For something a little bit more contemporary, Nicole Milano’s Sirrah dress is an excellent option.
