Steps to a FALL FLAWLESS FOUNDATION
Guest blogger: Makeup Artist, Michelle @ Concept Studio Beauty Fashion
First, evaluate your SKIN TYPE to know which product(s) will be right for your skin type. Here are the three skin types - Extra dry & Sensitivities, The Balance (Normal)Type, The Oily Type. Determine which type you fall under before selecting a foundation.
TIP: How can I identify my skin type?
Gently pat a blotting paper on the different areas of your face. Hold the sheet up to the light to determine how much oil is visible. If the sheet picked up little to no oil, you most likely have dry skin. If the blotting sheet reveals oil from the forehead and nose areas, your skin is normal/combination. Tatcha.com
The Different Skin Types

The dry frigid air is most harmful to dry and sensitive skin types. The surface of a sensitive and dry #skin type usually has texture and requires immediate hydration. The best choice of foundation formulation for this skin type is a Tinted Moisturizer or a Skincare Enhanced Foundation. Both of these foundation choices will enhance the appearance of a dry sensitive skin type to a healthy glo. However, both offer different levels of coverage.
Tinted Moisturizers offer a light amount of coverage, but are extremely hydrating to smooth the texture of dry skin. Skincare Enhanced Foundations are an even amount of coverage and skincare offering more coverage, but slightly less hydration. This type of foundation is suited best for occasional dry skin. These foundation bases will also form a surface barrier against the elements, therefore protecting the skin in cooler temperatures.

The Balance (Normal) Type
Balanced Skin types enjoy options in choosing a new Fall Foundation. This is because this skin type stays more balanced, never becoming too dry or oily. Balanced skin types may enjoy the look and feel of a Satin foundation, which will give the appearance of healthy glowing skin texture. Satin foundations usually are more hydrating than matte bases. Choosing this base will form a surface barrier for balanced skin types against the elements, therefore protecting the skin in cooler temperatures. This base can be layered with a light setting powder to give a more matte appearance.
The Oily Type
Oily skin can appear balanced in cold weather considering how oily the skin can become in warmer temperatures. Because the frigid air can cause pores to close just slightly, the look and texture of the skin will change. Therefore, it may be time to put your Spring/ Summer Matte foundation away and also opt for a Satin foundation. This is because an oily skin type needs a level of hydration to become more balanced giving the appearance of a healthy glo. If you find that you still desire a more matte appearance try setting your foundation with a matte setting powder.
