Part 1 Sight - giving your guests the best experience - What Guests See

Millennials...Millennials...Millennials, how do we please them???

With this group's heavy influence on wedding trends in 2018 and through 2019, they look to companies to deliver more. They are not looking for traditional cookie-cutter ideas. They are looking for over-the-top attention-grabbing, non-traditional ideas. They are looking for an approach to design and venue selection, a focus on creating a guest's experience for all five senses, and an appreciation for authentic fine art details and opulence. That said, let's see how we can make this happen.

As a planner, we found a foolproof way to develop the total experience for guests during the event planning process. We realized that every element appeals to one or more of our five senses. The objective here is to incorporate enough to appeal to all five senses and create a total experience for guests. Let us look at a few examples to get an understanding.

Take, for instance, our sense of sight👇. You will know from experience that when heading to an event, you are concentrating on finding an address, building, and, often, a parking spot. The building's exterior, signage, parking area, and possibly valet attendants are the first impression of the event. So, the front of a venue is the opportunity to appeal to the sense of sight and heighten expectations of what awaits on the inside.

Upon entering the building or tent, your guests must pass through an entrance of some kind. The entrance areas create intimacy and bring the event closeup to your guests. At this point, a beautiful entrance teases your guests as to what awaits inside. Entrances should not be cold or sterile places. Guests should exude the warmth and congeniality that your friends would feel if you were to welcome them into your home.K'Mich Weddings - How to Use the Five Senses to Plan Your Wedding-wedding planning - entrance decor - Strolling Tables - live statues in white dresses
Unfortunately, planners sometimes overlook the potential of the entrance areas. Décor is often nonexistent in these areas, though it should be present for a total experience. This area of your event is your opportunity to excite or disappoint your guests, depending upon what you have done. In the meantime, to get more decor ideas, click here.

  1. Great concept to focus on the entrance and being sure to include decor there. Can be applied to creating a welcoming environment in one's home too. The outside can set the stage for what the guest can expect on the inside. The first impression starts there, great read!

    1. Thank you. This is absolutely true. Your entrance, does not matter where, can determine what's on the inside. So, it's up to you to make sure it's welcoming and clean. Thanks for your feedback and visiting. Please share

  2. The potential for the entry to the wedding is really something brides and grooms should keep in mind. Not just the visuals, but the entire atmosphere. I look forward to reading part 2, as the hollistic approach seems rather new (to me at least), and very interesting. Having a wedding as an experience for the senses, not just the party.

  14. I planned my wedding a couple of years ago and the most important thing that I always kept in mind is that everything felt authentic and like "us". We wound up only inviting about 30 of our closest friends and family and held everything on our property. Aside from a few little hiccups, it was a perfect day!

  18. More than the look of love, guests would always look at the venue, the dresses and everything that would please them or otherwise. Weddings are perfect venue to air opinion and say their disgust or happiness.
