How to Remember Loved Ones Who Passed Away

Your wedding day is one of the most important events in your life. You will want all your family members there to see you tie the knot. If you’ve recently lost a parent, grandparent, or someone else close to you this loss will be felt because they will be the only face missing from the crowd. Why not make a special remembrance at your wedding just for them so you can feel that even though they are not physically present, they were there to celebrate with you.

In this post, you will get ideas on:

‘Reserved for Aunt Mary’ or something
like that so everyone knows not to sit there.
You can tape a photo ...

Honoring Loved Ones Who Have Passed Away

1. Wear Something That Belonged to them

Wearing a ring, necklace, or perfume that reminds you of them is a good way to feel that they are there with you. It doesn’t have to be jewelry, it could be something that has special meaning to you because it was from them. It could be something you wear or something you can hold in your hand. Neckties and handkerchiefs can be wrapped around the base of your flower bouquet and you can carry it with you down the aisle.

2. Save Them a Seat of Honor

Instead, why not set up a bench as we have - bench with name and birthday and date person passed away - wedding planning services offered - wedding ideas blog by K'Mich Weddings in Philadelphia PA
Another good way to honor your loved ones is to make them a seat with their name on it. It can say ‘Reserved for Aunt Mary’ or something like that so everyone knows not to sit there. You can tape a photo to the back of the chair or place a framed picture or something that represents them on the seat just before the wedding begins. Place the chair in the front row where they would be seated. Hint:  Instead, why not set up a bench as we have below and place it where you want.

3. Play Their Favorite Song at the Reception

Another way to remember those who are not with us is to play a favorite song of theirs. You can ask the DJ to play the song at the end of a set and say a few words about it being their song and how it is being played in their memory. This could also just be a song sung at the reception. You can do this any way you like. From having a record played to singing live, either way, you are honoring their memory.

4. Toast Them

This is a time-honored tradition. Making a toast to a recently deceased family member is another way to honor them and keep their memory alive. Keeping them in your heart helps ease the pain of them not being there. All that is needed are a few kind words about them.

5. Create a Memory Table

A memory table can be set up near the back of the room so everyone can see it and pay their respects if they wish. It doesn’t have to be big, a photo, and a lit candle along with a few personal items that they cherished. Hint: Instead, why not set up a bench as we have above and place it where you want.
